Linen is a fiber that softens and gets smoother over time, and it does so by shedding excess and unnecessary fibres. It is totally fine and completely normal, and usually will come to a natural conclusion after a few wash cycles.

Wash no more than one sheet and one pair of shams in as much water as possible (largest load setting on your machine), on a gentle cycle. Use a very small amount of gentle soap. When finished, shake the articles well to open them up before putting them into your dryer. You want each piece to have as much room as possible to tumble dry. Use delicate low heat; never hot. Warm press while still slightly damp.
